So what IS the big deal about water? Why are we constantly hearing or being told, “drink water . . . drink more water . . . you are not drinking enough water!” Is it really that big an issue? Well . . . yeah, it really is & here are just a couple reasons why.

First & foremost our body is mostly water. Or at least it should be! At birth, roughly 75% of our body weight can be attributed to water. Now this progressively decreases as we get older, but there is a lot we can do about it & it is not all that hard. The best & easiest thing you can do is to simply DRINK UP!!! A lot of the time our body is sending us the message that it needs water. However we do not always respond by drinking more water, but tend to respond by eating something. Take for example, you find yourself “craving something” or “thinking” that you are hungry, especially when you have eaten not all that long ago. Start with a glass of water & self-check in 15 minutes & ask yourself, “How am I feeling now?”  That feeling we often interpret as needing food is often the body saying, “Hey, I need some water dude!”   The bottom line is that most of us are not drinking nearly enough water, at least not consistently.

Here is something else for you to think about, & forgive us for getting a little scientific. The cells of your body require water in order to communicate with each other. Water is the medium by which your cells are able to actually talk to each other & do what they need to do, to the very best of their ability & keep you in the best of health. Think of it like this . . . you are in a foreign country at a coffee shop & it only sells coffee, that’s it nothing else. You want to order a coffee & the person at the counter is just looking at you because they have no idea what you are saying so they have no idea what you want. Hard as you try & as simple as it should be, as coffee is the only thing they serve, what you are saying is not being understood . . . it isn’t being communicated & therefore you don’t get a coffee. You do however get incredibly frustrated because what was truly a simple request was not understood.
  

 If you are not drinking enough water there is a very high probability that your cells have interactions like this daily, even hourly. We could go on & on as to how this directly relates to dis-ease, illness, etc., but we are pretty sure you are getting the message here.  So grab your favourite Workout Princess gear & get your sweat on . . . just remember to replenish all the time!

Hmmmm . . . interesting . . . & to think that 98% of diets do not work! Could it be that even dieting, along with our personal relationships, requires clear & consistent communication?
